01

THE STARTING POINT

A specific audience.
A much bigger opportunity.

Andrew Petcash had built a niche audience on LinkedIn and a newsletter beginning to take shape. People were paying attention to his perspective on the business of sports.

That trust was the starting asset. The opportunity was to give the audience more ways to connect, contribute, and build together—and to create the infrastructure that could support those relationships.

The question became: what kind of business could exist around that trust?

02

THE WORK THAT SHAPED OUR FRAMEWORK

Build the connections.
Put the system to work.

Circulus’s contribution centered on building the community and its supporting technology, putting an operator in place, and developing the playbook connecting those assets. The platform’s development ultimately extended into a venture fund.

It is the story behind our operating method: architect the opportunity, build the infrastructure, operate the system, and grow what it can support.

  1. 01 / ARCHITECT

    Start with the relationship.

Identify the value in the audience and connect it to a broader community and business opportunity.

  2. 02 / BUILD

    Give the community a home.

Build the technology and infrastructure needed to bring people together beyond a feed or newsletter.

  3. 03 / OPERATE

    Put someone behind the system.

Place an operator with responsibility for running the community and helping the platform develop.

  4. 04 / GROW

Expand what the platform can do.

Connect the assets into a repeatable playbook, with venture capital becoming another part of the ecosystem.

03

THE FLYWHEEL IN PRACTICE

Each asset gives
the others more to work with.

Profluence publicly describes its flywheel through four connected assets: media, community, intelligence, and capital. The Circulus lesson is in the relationships between them.

Here is the operating logic: visibility can create relationships; relationships can surface insight; insight can inform opportunities; and the work of building can generate new stories and learning.

  1. 01 / MEDIA

    A reason to pay attention.

Research, newsletter coverage, and podcast conversations give the industry a recurring point of connection.

    CONNECTS TO COMMUNITY

Relevant ideas can bring the right people into the same room.

  2. 02 / COMMUNITY

    A place to build relationships.

Founders, operators, executives, and investors connect through a private network, programming, and events.

    INFORMS INTELLIGENCE

Conversations can reveal needs, questions, and emerging opportunities.

  3. 03 / INTELLIGENCE

A clearer view of the market.

Research, tools, and market intelligence help turn industry information into useful perspective.

    INFORMS OPPORTUNITY

Better context can support more informed decisions about what to build or back.

  4. 04 / CAPITAL

    Another way to support builders.

Profluence Capital adds investment and strategic partnership to the wider platform.

    FEEDS THE NEXT CYCLE

Building companies can create new experience, relationships, and stories to share.

THE CIRCULUS PRINCIPLE

The starting asset
sets the direction.

Profluence began with trusted distribution. The infrastructure, operating capacity, and connected relationships gave that starting point a much larger role.

Every Circulus relationship follows its own opportunity. Talent develops commercial value around an asset. Build creates and operates the systems around it. Studio selectively co-creates businesses where shared ownership fits the work.

One company. Three engines of value.
From influence to enterprise.
